I've known Yamanami Koubou for over 20 years, but recently I was really surprised by the momentum of the movie "Jizo to Libido" being screened nationwide and several of the members' works being purchased at MOMA. ``When I was walking outside in my neighborhood, I was thrown a stone at Yamanami and came back crying.'' An episode from 30 years ago tells the story of the gap between now and the director of the facility, Mr. Yamashita.
No matter when I go, I am always greeted with polite hospitality, the quality of the members' works is high, and it is a wonder that new artists are born every time I visit. This idea, this composition, concentration, sigh comes out. I wonder how this kind of work will be born if I get involved and talk to them... It is definitely a valuable place to think about art in the future, rather than categorizing it as art brut, outsider art, welfare or art. (NH)
Every visit brings surprises and discoveries. For example, "At first glance, it seems that we are silently doing expression activities, but there are many artists who care about us."
There was also this kind of person. Check out when we will come to see your work. And just before we enter his atelier, he beautifully arranges the poses he has drawn.
You're so cute. Writers with disabilities tend to be said to be innocent or pure because they don't care about evaluations and don't compare themselves with others. I used to think so too. It may be the aesthetics of pretense that the majority tends to fall into, wanting to evaluate the minority. There are 10 different writers with disabilities. There are various characters. (CA)
I was often told that the art activities of artists with disabilities were "just to live", and I thought I understood them, but it was only after I came to Yamanami Koubou that I realized what they were saying.
I'm just overwhelmed by the energy that tries to send out something inside... I think people who are freely creative here are really happy... Even in the countryside of Shiga (I'm very sorry!), it's far from Kobe. I also know that there are people who pass by. (TY)

know the difference between each other.
Respect each other's values.
Draw the way you want to draw.
Let's make it the way we want to make it.
Let's live like you
How happy I would be if I could freely pursue my potential in a place where I could be recognized and exist as I am. My color, my shape, born in my daily life. At Yamanami Koubou, we value the essence of each individual that can be felt from various expressions, think about what sensitivity is and what is richness, and aim to expand each possibility and HAPPY infinitely.
